The Sweet & Lowdown: Kieran Fitzgerald

JazzEnsemleWaterford Gypsy Jazz Ensemble formed in June of 2010, playing a range of music in the style of Gypsy Jazz. Comprising of music students, past and present, from Waterford Institute of Technology, the band perform music from a by-gone era with a modern twist.

This Thursday, the Waterford Gypsy Jazz Ensemble play a free gig at the Theatre Royal to mark the launch of their new ep, ‘Debut Swing’. We spoke to the band’s double bass player, Kieran Fitzgerald:

“The band was originally a little side project of Dylan Bible’s, basically he wanted to set it up and then let it off. The band wouldn’t have happened without Dylan, to be honest. He rehearsed with the band for a while, to get things going and then the lads kept rehearsing through last summer themselves
