The Von Bondies to play The Avenue

Detroit garage rockers, THE VON BONDIES, have just announced a string of Irish dates for May. They will play ELECTRIC AVENUE on Wed 13TH May with special guests BLACK ROBOTS. Momentum and acclaim is beginning to build once again for the Von Bondies after the release of their third studio album “LOVE, HATE AND THEN THERE’S YOU” on limited edition CD and download on Model Citizen Records. Tickets for the gig priced at €17.50 euro including booking fee are on sale now from BPM Records and Ticketmaster.

ABOUT

Hailing from Detroit, Michigan; the Von Bondies line up consists of Jason Stollsteimer (vocals / guitar), Don Blum (drums), Leann Banks (bass) and Christy Hunt (guitar). ‘Love Hate And Then Theres You’ resonates with the spirit of raucous rock ‘n’ roll the area is famous for. Old school fans will cherish the garage wig-outs of ‘Shut Your Mouth ‘and ‘She’s Dead To Me’; while indie kids can embrace the shiny chaos of ‘21st Birthday’, ‘Only To Haunt You’ or lead-off radio single ‘Pale Bride’. Everyone can enjoy the five track bonus CD which comes with initial copies of the album. That it has been a long and grinding road to this point cannot be denied. Since their debut ‘Lack Of Communication’ album, the Von Bondies’ core has remained committed to the cause through thick, thin and thinner still. This is just as well, as half a decade has passed since the last time the Von Bondies impinged upon the public consciousness when the ‘Pawn Shoppe Heart’ album was driven along by the success of the anthemic ‘C’mon C’mon’ in 2004. And here they are on ‘Love, Hate And Then There’s You’ in their full fuzzy FM-friendly fury, proud of riff, raw of emotion and hectic of harmony. Just like all the best alternative rock records should be. “Most bands don’t last five years,” muses Stollsteimer, “we’ve been a band for nine. I feel like we’ve progressed as fast as we can. You can’t get anywhere by standing still and we’re always about moving. It’s all about having a good time.”

The Von Bondies are big fans of our own “Fight Like Apes” who they took around the UK as support on their recent tour. Fight Like Apes are back at Electric Avenue themselves for a headline gig on Friday 19th June in advance of their appearance at Oxegen, Benicassim and many other European festivals this summer. Tickets also available at BPM Records and Ticketmaster.
