There is a long history of Music in the Presentation Waterford. The tradition of the School Musical began in 1974 with ‘The Quaker Girl’. This year’s production of ‘The Pajama Game’ played to an audience of over 1000 over four performances and was the school’s 30th production. On March 16th friends of the Presentation Secondary School were treated to yet another night of musical extravaganza. A concert was performed by students of the school and they were joined by special guests, Ad Hoc and Voicemale.

The concert was directed by music teacher, Mark Scanlon, who also performed with Ad Hoc and Voicemale. The audience heard songs from musical theatre such as ‘Naughty’ from Matilda The Musical performed by Lauren O’Brien, ‘The Wizard and I’ from Wicked performed by Hayley O’Brien; ‘Falling Slowly’ from Once sung by Lauren O’Brien and accompanied on piano by Robyn Reidy and ‘Quiet’ from Matilda The Musical performed by Tara Ramasawmy.

There was Irish dancing by Jennifer Evans, Lauryn O’Shea Cronin & Ellie Roche. There were also many contemporary songs such as the ever popular Ed Sheeran song ‘Photograph’, performed by Leah Norris. The recently formed ‘5th Year band’ versions of ‘Pumped Up Kicks’ and ‘Uptown Funk’ got the audience to their feet.

In attendance at the concert were teachers and students from Lycee Jules Rieffel who had been visiting the Presentation as part of an exchange in collaboration with the Town Twinning.
