Stagemad at Central Arts

stagemad-editThis month, Central Arts is to play host to Stagemad Theatre Company as it presents Somebody and Nobody, a dark revenge comedy by Ian Wild.

Directed by James Power and starring Waterford’s Darren Malone (fresh from a stint in Sister Act) and Richard Clare, who recently wowed gobsmacked audiences at Central Arts Open Mic Night as Johnny the Jazz Jellyfish, Somebody and Nobody is a dark character-driven comedy.

It centres on two very different personas, housemates who live in a very unconventional world: Somebody, possibly the most important person ever; and his sidekick Nobody, a nonentity with twelve mothers, twelve fathers and a million friends who never visit. A blank piece of paper enters the lives of the two men triggering a series of events in which their relationship cosmically and comically implodes.

Somebody and Nobody comes in a year of celebration for this Waterford company and Ciara O Connell, director of Central Arts is excited at the prospect of working with them. “We’re delighted to have Stagemad perform with us”, she said. “This is a big year for them, marking their tenth anniversary. I know James has big plans to mark it and we’re happy to come on board and be part of the celebration”.

Performances are from April 23rd to 25th. Tickets are priced at just €10 and are on sale now from www.centralarts.ie or by calling Central Arts Box Office on 086 4543246.
