Stop the Clocks
Singer, songwriter and photographer Pete Smith, AKA Pete MacGowan, will be combining his creative passions for an event at the Coastguard Cultural Centre in Tramore this October.
Under the name Pete Smith he is an award winning photographer who specialises in floral photography. Working with film, his photographs emphasise the beauty of the individual details of the flower, often using selective focus and washes of colour to create abstract images which accentuate the splendour of nature.
And as Pete MacGowan he is a singer and a songwriter whose recently released CD, Stop the Clocks, has been played on radio stations across the country. Pete will be playing acoustic sets with Breege Phelan on the Saturdays during the exhibition.
Stop the Clocks features Pete MacGowan on lead vocals, guitars and harmonica, and Breege Phelan on lead and backing vocals. All five songs are originals inspired by the folk, blues and roots music from Ireland and the UK, and from Europe across the Atlantic to North America.
Since launching the acoustic EP, Stop the Clocks, Pete and Breege have played at a number of festivals, including the Clancy Brothers’ Music and Arts Festival and the Clonmel Busking Festival. Over the last two years they have supported Charlie McGettigan, John Spillane, Jimmy Crowley, Jim McKee, the Frank and Walters and David Kitt.
