Symphony Club launches 2016 series

The Symphony Club of Waterford will hold its first concert of 2016 on Friday, 12th February at City Hall’s Large Room, featuring Camerata Ireland, directed by Barry Douglas(Pianist). Beethoven Piano Concerto No 2 in B Flat and Beethoven Symphony No 4 in B Flat. This orchestra comprises the very best of young professional musicians from across Ireland under the direction of internationally acclaimed Pianist Barry Douglas. This concert is being presented in association with Waterford Music.

Other dates for the diary include Thursday, 19th May, when the Club welcomes back the Irish Chamber Orchestra (ICO) to St John’s Church, Parnell Street, performing music from the movies. Irish Symphonic Wind Orchestra will perform on Sunday, 11th September at the Carriganore Arena under guest conductor Johan De Meij (Holland). This newly formed Wind Orchestra features the very best Woodwind, Brass and Percussion players from across Ireland. Under the direction of guest conductor Johan de Meij from Holland, the programme will include music by Beethoeven, de Meij ,John Willams, Ticheli and Hazo.

Finally the Irish Baroque Orchestra will perform on Friday, 11th November in St John’s Church, with a programme of Portuguese and Brazillian Music of the 18th Century. Tickets are available from Garter Lane Box Office Ph: 051-855038 www.garterlane.ie
