RTE’s Nationwide Revisited
Nationwide Re-visited is a new series of programmes presented by Michael Ryan. The series, to be broadcast on Sunday evenings at 6.30pm, starting on 27th June on RTÉ One takes a journey through the RTÉ archives and revisits people and places to bring their stories up to date. Each week the Nationwide Revisited team will travel to a different part of the country to see how that area has changed over the years and how it has adapted to meet the challenges of today.
The first programme re-visits the town of Tallow in West Waterford where Michael Ryan meets the enclosed order of nuns in the Carmelite Convent. They tell him about their decision to come out from behind the walls and their national appeal on television for funds to build their new convent. Michael visits the new building where he sees how much it has changed their lives. He also attends the Tallow Horse Fair which has been running in the town for generations and he visits the home of Kevin Ryan son of the famous Waterford Tenor Frank Ryan.
That’s Nationwide Revisited, Sunday 27th June at 6.30pm after the RTÉ Six One News.
