An inspirational dance double bill

Waterford’s professional contemporary dance company Animated State is currently rehearsing a new work to be premiered during the Imagine Arts Festival. Samsara, “a trio for two dancers and a pianist” is an engaging and beautiful celebration of extraordinary dance and music. Libby Seward’s spell binding choreography in collaboration with acclaimed pianist and composer Francesco Turissi will guarantee an experience that will linger in the senses and inspire.

Featured on Lyric’s JK Ensemble, Francesco’s reputation as a truly open-minded and lyrical musician will encourage music lovers to join dance enthusiasts for a unique trio of live performance. An Italian native, he studied music at the Hague Royal Conservatory and now lives and works in Dublin. His influences include jazz improvisation, Mediterranean music and Irish traditional music. His NCH performance was described by the Irish Times (2007) as ‘the most enchanting music I’ve ever heard’.

Legitimate Bodies Dance Company, based in Birr will perform Touching Distance as part of a Dance Double Bill. This theatrical dance work questions modern Irish values. Has our relationship with money made us loose touch with our essential being? Can the recession paradoxically help us to achieve a more fulfilling existence?

Wednesday 28th October promises to be a fantastic opportunity to see two of Ireland’s most exciting and accessible new contemporary dance companies.

Dance Double Bill Wednesday 28th October at 8pm, Good Shepherd Chapel, WIT, College Street, Waterford during Imagine Arts Festival. Tickets €15. Bookings at Garter Lane-051 355038 or online at www.garterlane.ie
