Garter Lane Theatre is delighted to present the return visit of CoisCéim Dance Theatre to Waterford next Saturday 30th January at 8pm when they celebrate 15 years of award-winning productions with a double bill of work – As You Are, directed by long-time CoisCéim dancer Muirne Bloomer who is making her CoisCéim directorial debut and Faun, directed by CoisCéim artistic director, David Bolger. Faun directed by David Bolger Nijinsky was worshipped as the greatest dancer of the twentieth century, but audiences rioted when they saw his first ballet, L’après midi d’un Faune. It is hard to tell what shocked them most, the bare feet, shameless sensuality or revolutionary dance style. Mixing Debussy’s famous score with Queen, David Bolger takes Nijinsky’s iconic ballet and explores how dance still reconnects us with our feelings and imagination. But if nothing shocks us any more, how can we ever really break free?
