Gary Power to stage Bugsy Malone

After a two year absence from the Waterford theatre scene, Gary Power is back, with his newly formed production company, to stage the smash hit musical ‘Bugsy Malone,’ which will run at the Forum next January.

This hugely popular family show which is solely performed by children, centres around the gangster underworld of New York. Indeed, who will ever forget the blockbuster movie which sprang a very young Jodie Foster to fame.

Gary Power is one of Waterford’s most established and experienced directors and he has won many awards. The last show he directed here was the fantastic ‘Les Miserable’ for De La Salle College, which played to packed houses at the Theatre Royal and won him the WLR Arts and Entertainment Award. Gary will also direct the next De La Salle show, which is yet to be announced, in November.

Bugsy Malone is already in preproduction and Gary has brought together a team full of experience who will help make this fun loving musical, the must see show for all the family this Christmas.

Auditions will take place in September and Gary is guaranteeing a part in the musical for every boy or girl that takes part in his Musical Theatre summer camp being held at the De Bramm School of Dance and Performing Arts at Tycor this summer. The camp will be for eight to 13 year olds from August 18-23, while from August 25-30, the camp will be for 13 to 16 year olds.

The camp will be of great benefit for the junior members who are auditioning for Bugsy Malone and senior group members who are considering auditioning for the next De La Salle production.

For professional tuition in musical theatre, the summer camp is a must and you can make a booking by contacting Gary on 087-9607464.
