Jessica Carri directs her own play in Edinburgh

Waterford actor and director, Jessica Carri, is currently directing a play called ‘Punchline’ that she will be taking to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival at the end of August.

Jessi attended Christ Church National school and St Angela’s Secondary in Waterford. During her years in secondary school she became very much involved in Waterford Youth Arts, taking classes in dance and drama, and frequently performing in both the streets and theatres of Waterford for six years. After discovering her passion for theatre and performance Jessi went on to study Drama and Theatre for four years in Trinity College Dublin and will be graduating in November.

On completion of their exams in April, Jessi, along with fellow classmates, Barbara McCarthy, Eibhlish Fleming and Katie O’Kelly set up their new performance company Chatterbag, and began work on making an original and exciting play.

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival which is widely acknowledged as the biggest arts festival in the world takes place very August in Scotland’s capital city. The festival includes theatre, dance, comedy, musicals, exhibitions and live music. It has provided a platform that has allowed the careers of many performers to bloom, including Rowan Atkinson, Stephen Fry and Emma Thompson. The Festival and its participants regard it as a celebration of arts and entertainment.
