Romeo and Juliet Auditions for young actors
Little Red Kettle Theatre Company have announced that this summer they will undertake a full production of William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet with a cast made up primarily of 14 to 18 year olds and directed by Ben Hennessy.
The production will take place in July 2008 and will rehearse from June 16th for 5 weeks before opening.
‘‘It’s been a long term ambition of mine to stage Romeo and Juliet with young actors,” says Red Kettle Artistic Director Ben Hennessy,
Auditions for actors aged 14 to 19 year olds will be held on Wednesday March 19th. If interested and available to commit to rehearsals and performances from mid-June through the end of July, please contact Little Red Kettle on 051- 879688.
And that’s not all…This summer Little Red Kettle will also host theatrical workshops for 9 to 12 year olds, under the direction of Liam Meagher. The workshops, running the weeks of the 7th, 14th, and 21st of July, will include a series of theatrical activities: games, improvisations, painting, acting, stories, and much more. Each workshop will run for one week, from 10 am to 4:30 pm each day for 5 days. There will be 150 places available over the course of the three week-long workshops (50 places per week). Priority will be given to those that have never participated in a Little Red Kettle show before, places will be offered on a first come basis, and children may sign up for only 1 workshop. The fee for participating in the workshops will be €100, with 4 bursaries (covering the full costs of participation) available for each workshop. For bursary applications and information, please contact the Red Kettle Offices at 051 879688. Bookings for the workshops will be taken from the 7th of April.
