Stagemad Theatre Company have been awarded funding by Culture Ireland to take ‘Are you the wife of Michael Cleary’ to the Irish Arts Center, New York in January 2008. This powerful play will be performed at Garter Lane Arts Centre on Wednesday, January 9th at 8pm to raise funds to help defray the cost of bringing this play to New York.

Due to phenomenal demand in February this year, when the play sold out in a short time it is advisable to book early. The play is based on the true story of Bridget Cleary who was burned as a witch at her cottage in Ballyvadlea, Co. Tipperary in 1895.

This is a triumph for Stagemad Theatre Company who are only two and a half years old to come this far with no Arts Council funding. So get out and suport Stagemad and give them a great send off as ambassadors for the arts in Waterford.
