World Renowned Cornet Player to Perform in Waterford

The Barrack Street Concert Band is delight to invite world renowned cornet player Mark Wilkinson to Waterford on August 8th, 9th and 10th to host a master class weekend with the band.

Mark Wilkinson is the current principal cornet player of the world famous Fodens’ Band and was appointed to the “hot seat” by the legendary Howard Snell in 1992 at the early age of just 20 years.

During this time he has won every major contest including the British Open, the National Finals and the European Championships to name but a few. Most recently Fodens won the double of British Open and National Championship in 2012. Mark has also been the cornet tutor of the National Youth Brass Band of Britain since 2000 and was appointed as the cornet tutor at the world famous Royal Northern College of Music in 2010. Mark is in demand worldwide as cornet soloist, teacher, conductor, clinician and adjudicator as well as having a number of acclaimed solo recordings to his name.

In 2009 he was voted by the banding public as the ‘4barsrest’ player of the year.

The band is also delighted to announce that he will perform with the band at 11:30 Mass in St Paul’s Church, Lisduggan on Sunday, 10th August.
