Music Network in association with Waterford-Music and Waterford New Music Week will present Joanna MacGregor (solo piano) at Georgian Large Room, City Hall at 8pm on Thursday, 26th March.

Joanna will perform a musical sketch of her life: from the Bach preludes and Gospel songs she played as a child, through to her first jazz love – Thelonious Monk – and her first ‘difficult’ composer – Charles Ives; from her travels across the Deep South of the United States, and first journeys in Latin America. She will also perform a brand new commission from Irish composer Conor Linehan.

In the afternoon four lucky students will participate in a masterclass with MacGregor. The young pianists selected are Anna Walsh, Kate Maguire, Lucy Kirby from WIT Music School and Robert Leahy from WIT BA Music programme. The masterclass will take place on the afternoon of the concert at the Georgian Large Room, City Hall from 4.30-6.30 pm. Observers are welcome.
