Double success for Tag Along Prefix (April 5th)

A benefit night in aid of St Ursula’s Primary School drew a fine sized attendance to Kilcohan Park last Saturday night.

Enniscorthy owner Dermot Flynn enjoyed a memorable night with two of his runners bearing the ‘Tag Along’ prefix coming up trumps. His entry in race nine 5/2 shot Tag Along Toss hugged the rails throughout and while ‘Toss’ only lay in third spot along the back stretch as Fortune Mist took over in the lead from Boherbradda Kid the Model County entry produced the superior dash of finishing speed however up the home stretch coming through smoothly to inflict a three lengths defeat on Fortune Mist in 28.86.

A 4/1 shot, Tag Along Boss wasn’t taking any chances in the eleventh event exiting trap three at a fair rate of knots to make every post a winning one in a red hot 28.68. Unlucky in running on his previous outing at Clonmel Tag Along Boss stretched into a handy early lead over Star Kav and while the 6/4 favourite Hospital Pass was doing all his best work in the closing stages to fill the runner up spot Tag Along Boss was gone beyond recall obliging by a length and a half. Both winners are from the April 06 litter by Droopys Vieri ex Tag Along Ivy.

Favourite backers rowed in with Roberto Soprano (6/4) in the opening four bender and while this early paced dog made a solid bid to lead all the way he came under pressure off the home turn as the Maurice Kiely owned and Aidan Roche trained Ballynoe Boy (Top Honcho-Kingsmill First) at 5/2 joined issue up front. Staying on the stronger on the run to the winning line Ballynoe Boy went on to score by a length and a half in 28.72.

Reality Fantasy is proving a great money-spinner for owner Paul Quilty and trainer Jimmy Frisby and this November 2005 whelp was on the mark once again in a two bend sprint scoring at odds of 3/1 in 17.95. Reality Fantasy raced in unison with both Hillbilly Wok and Hollylake Tom on the run to the first turn but accelerating into the lead a determined Reality Fantasy (Droopys Woods-Lady Flow) went on his merry way to beat Hillbilly Wok by a length.

Local owner Ollie Flynn combined with his County Wexford trainer Nick Turner to capture the third contest with the fast starting Coco Nikita (Spiral Nikita-Castleboro Katie) this 4/1 shot never looking in any danger of losing out en route to a clear-cut 28.86 success. Firing herself clear from trap one Coco Nikita dashed clear of the pack and in a one sided contest Coco Nikita came home five and a half lengths clear of King Henry.

Track newcomer Compass Roberta cut an early dash from trap four in the fourth event but lost her bearings on the back stretch keeping very wide throughout. The John Somers owned and John Kavanagh trained Max Light (Boherduff Light-Smooth Judy) at 3/1 took full advantage of the situation to cruise into the lead at the halfway mark and making the best of his way home Max Light went on to account for Chance To Shine by five lengths. Time 28.86. County Tipperary owner Pamela Holt supplied the 5/4 favourite in a six bend marathon and her Miss Muffet (Ww Time Warp-Mustang Magpie) did not disappoint doing the business in a five runner field in a lively 40.92. Taking over in the lead at the third bend from the front running Charming Winona a fleet footed Miss Muffet went clean away to inflict a six lengths defeat on Jays Penny.

Miami Scholes, 4/1 to 6/4, was the best backed runner in the sixth event and this fast starter looked likely to land a touch for connections but the Sasha Reardon owned and Mick Kelly trained Aristocracy (Elite State-Your So Vain) 4/1 had other ideas and overtaking both Mays Sombrero and Forge Lady along the back stretch the well bred Aristocracy loomed up ominously off the home turn. Much to the relief of the bookmakers Aristocracy finished with a flourish up the fence to outstay Miami Scholes by a length in 29.18.

In the seventh event the Elizabeth Atkinson owned Leahs Boss (Jamella Prince-Hopeful Dawn) recorded back-to-back victories with a smooth all the way 28.63 success. Leaving trap four smartly Leahs Boss did well to make the first bend ahead of Islandea Lady and Cost A Fortune. Once in front a strong running Leahs Boss was not going to be denied staying on strongly for a cosy four and a half lengths success over Cost A Fortune in a best of night clock.

Despite staying wide throughout in race eight the Michael O’Connor owned Whitefort Patch (Premier Fantasy-Whitefort Dotcom) 2/1 to his credit still managed to win out in 29.09. When Tonite Andy appeared to run the hare rail on the back stretch Whitefort Patch increased his early advantage.

Whitefort Patch forfeited that advantage rounding the final two bends however going very wide at that point. Latest Legend joined issue on the rails but kicking again up the home straight Whitefort Patch went on to deny Latest Legend by half a length.

Despite a slow start from trap six in the tenth contest the Stephen Wadsworth owned Compass Jimmy (Larkhill Jo-Ullid Abby) 2/1 came from behind to score in 29.04. Cactus Vieri had a good early battle up front with Show Million along the back stretch but bringing his stamina into play Compass Jimmy finished with a flourish to defeat Show Million by three and a half lengths.
