Russian Chamber Orchestra and Soprano
Christ Church Cathedral is offering a mouth watering programme of music on Friday 14th November which will be performed by the Russian Chamber Orchestra and guest soprano. The concert will include Barber’s Adagia for Strings, Vivaldi’s Spring from the Four Seasons, the Holberg Suite by Grieg, Serenade for Strings by Elgar, as well as pieces from Bach and Tchaikovsky. The award winning soprano Natalia Avakulenko from Moscow will perform pieces by Mozart and Puccini.
The Russian Chamber Orchestra was founded in December 2001 and the priorities in the work of the collective are performing the masterpieces of world music heritage, promotion of modern musical art, performing music of different styles and composing schools, taking part in new creative projects and touring.
During the years of performing the orchestra has had several international concert tours: Tunisia (2002), Sweden (2003), the USA (2004), Germany (2003, 2005). The Orchestra was honoured with title of a laureate at the 17th International Festival of Classical Music in El Gem (Tunisia). In May, 2003 the Orchestra took part in European Week of Culture, organized by European Union in Germany.
