Man charged over Tramore murder

A 32-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Kilkenny native Michael O’Dwyer at a holiday home complex in Tramore last Thursday.

Tadhg Butler, with an address at Seafield in Tramore – but originally from Kilkenny – was brought before a special sitting of Waterford District Court on Saturday afternoon and charged with the murder of O’Dwyer (25).

He was remanded in custody to appear again in court in Waterford on Tuesday.

The deceased, who resided in Stoneyford, County Kilkenny with his mother, was found with stab wounds to the chest by the emergency services responding to a callout, at around 11.30pm.

He was brought to Waterford Regional Hospital, where he later died.

State pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy travelled to WRH on Friday afternoon to perform an autopsy on Mr O’Dwyer.
