Massive fundraising effort for Bolger Brothers fund

Don Baker, PJ Gallagher, Dave McSauvage and Paddy O’Brien are just some of the high profile entertainers donating their time and talents to the Bolger Brothers Tragedy Fund this weekend.

These gigs will be the culmination of ‘a massive outpouring of goodwill from the people of Waterford’, according to one of the organisers.

Irish Blues legend Baker will headline at a free, 8-band concert in Passage on Sunday during a family fun day that kicks off in the village at 12 noon. The event is one of several in the coming days in aid of the families of fishermen brothers Paul, Shane and Kenny n3s1A Bolger, from Passage East, who died tragically after their boat capsized in heavy  seas off the coast of Brownstown Head on 12th June. After the tragedy, a  committee was set up to raise money to assist the families of all three brothers.

On Friday night, a 10-race card at Kilcohan gets underway at 7.55pm, with an  auction of a pedigree greyhound pup and other prices sure to attract the crowds.  Also on Friday, top Irish comedians PJ Gallagher and Dave McSauvage will  perform at the Forum, with tickets a bargain €12. Gallagher and McSauvage  actually volunteered their services when they heard about the fundraising drive,  according to PRO Damien Tiernan.
