Two arrested in drugs seizure

Two men remain in custody at Tramore Garda Station following the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of €140,000 at Riverwalk in Waterford city on Monday morning.
As part of investigations under the regional Operation Serpentine, Gardaí from the Waterford Divisional Drugs Unit stopped a car at the Riverwalk development on the Inner Ring Road at 7.30am.
On searching the vehicle, €20,000 worth of Cannabis herb and a further €120,000 of Amphetamine were discovered.
Two males, one in his 20s and another in his early 30s, were arrested and taken to Tramore Garda Station where they remained detained under Drug Trafficking Act at time of going to press.
The arrests were two of nine made in the south-east in recent days as part of an ongoing investigation into the cultivation, distribution, sale and supply of controlled substances in the region.
Gardaí based in Wexford assisted by the Regional Support Unit, along with Gardaí from Carlow/Kilkenny, Waterford and Tipperary divisions were involved, including Customs and Excise officials based in Waterford.
A man and a woman were arrested at a house in Dunmaine, County Wexford, one man was arrested at a house at Ballywilliam, New Ross and another at a house on Grange Road, New Ross, two men were arrested at a house at Longraigue, Foulksmills, Co Wexford, while cannabis grow-houses were discovered at Killesk, Campile and Ramsgrange, Co Wexford.
Five of those arrested are understood to be related. They were detained at New Ross, Thomastown and Tramore Garda stations.
Quantities of drugs and a number of items relating to drug cultivation were seized during the searches.
