gardaA Vietnamese woman in her 40s has been remanded in custody in connection with the seizure of an estimated €470,000 worth of cannabis at a house at Coppinger Court, Powerscourt on Sunday afternoon.
Hai Thi Ngugen (43), of no fixed abode, was arrested at the scene of the seizure at approximately 4pm, following a planned search by Gardaí from the Waterford Drug Unit.
She was brought before Waterford District Court on Tuesday morning and charged with possession of cannabis, possession of cannabis for sale and supply and the cultivation of cannabis.
Gardaí objected to bail and Ms Ngugen was remanded in custody until next Tuesday. Judge Kevin Staunton approved an application for free legal aid.
Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €170,000 and cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €300,000 were seized by Gardaí at the house in Powerscourt.
