Proud club thanks all its supporters and sponsors
De La Salle Hurling and Football club have a proud tradition and history of involvement in both Feile na nGael and Feile na nOg. These fantastic tournaments are held each year for U14 hurlers and footballers from all over Ireland.
De la Salle’s initial involvement dates backs to 1998 when Birr, Co Offaly beat us in the final of Féile na nGael. The following year the club made amends by winning Division 2, beating Lady’s Isle, Wexford. However, the club missed out on a rare double by losing the football to Tinryland, Co Carlow.
De La Salle continued to represent the Deise with pride by winning the Division 4, Feile na nOg in 2000 and 2001. In 2003 the club became only the third club in the country to win both titles in the same year.
The club’s love of this great tournament has continued to grow and last year De La Salle reached the Division 4 final of Féile na nÓg, losing to a very good Starlights team from Enniscorthy.
De La Salle proudly represented Waterford again in a rare double in 2010. The club’s young hurlers participated in the Féile na nGael in Clare over the weekend of the 18th – 20th June and the weekend before last the footballer travelled north to Derry to John Mitchells of Glenullin in the Féile Peil na nÓg, the home of the inter-county brothers, the Bradleys, and did brilliantly to reach the final.
The De La Salle club would like to thank all the parents and club members for helping to fundraise over the preceding number of weeks and especially all those who gave so generously. In particular the club would like to say a big thank you to Pat McDonagh and all at Supermac’s for sponsoring the players; gear. This sponsorship is greatly appreciated by the club. Supermac’s have a proud tradition of supporting the local communities in which it operates. The company have been involved in GAA sponsorship at a local and national level for the past twenty years.
