Support St Luke’s

Dear Sir,

I’m writing to ask readers to help me keep the wonderful St Luke’s Hospital in Rathgar for cancer patients.

Mary Harney decided to centralise cancer services back in 2005 and on the advice of ‘experts’ decided to close St Luke’s Cancer Hospital. The people of Ireland have over the years let too much be taken from them. Do not let this happen – we deserve better.

I was a patient at Luke’s for eight weeks and received incredible care. The staff from the top down to the gardeners are a rare breed you won’t find elsewhere.

If one was never to get treatment, the grounds alone would be nearly sufficient therapy. Tranquillity and peace hits you as you enter the gates, Here is an existing hospital of excellence.

The new health minister James Reilly can change this flawed decision if he chooses. He has a copy of our book Cancer in a Cold Climate: the Shafting of St Luke’s, which explains how this decision was reached. The book is available in the Book Centre and in Books-n-Things in Lisduggan shopping centre.

Please email Minister Reilly at asking him to save St Luke’s, and contact your newly elected representatives too.
