Waterford Variety Theatre Club

Dear Sir/Madam,

The Waterford Variety Theatre Club has produced the “Royal Variety Show’ over the past couple of years. Its stated aim is to be non-profit and keep theatrical interest and opportunity alive for the part timer as well as the seasoned performers. The Royal Variety Show has contributed over €15000 in recent years to local groups to assist their funding shortfall. This year the Variety Theatre Club will launch a yearly ‘Variety Dinner’ with all profits going to local ‘theatrical bursaries’ as part of the existing Ted O’Regan bursaries.

The future intention is to have national and international guest speakers from the world of theatre and create what will hopefully develop into a purely theatrical night not to be missed in Waterford.

This year to start things off we are doing an anniversary dinner for the heyday of variety’s greatest claim to fame the ” Tops” at the Divine Dining Restaurant in the Forum Theatre on Friday 26th of September 2008. The format of the night will be a nostalgic look back on the days of tops. With some shared memories in song, story and old footage of bygone days. The cost is €50 per person, which includes dinner and a guided trip down memory lane. Fifty percent of the cover price will go the new ‘variety arts bursaries’. Hopefully these bursaries will be used to help any budding comedian or musician to alleviate some of the risk in a precarious business.

Unfortunately we can only seat 160 people and we do anticipate a big demand. So we are contacting any ex tops people we know to offer you first refusal or acceptance on tickets for this night.

So if you would like to join us on this inaugural ‘Waterford Variety Theatre Club’ dinner, please contact any of the undersigned before Sept 1st and book your tickets. Please note that we cannot hold or guarantee tickets after the 1st of September.

Dress code for dinner is smart/jacket with a dash of colour and no denim.

Best Regards
