Boy racers’ secret code

So-called ‘boy racers’ in Waterford are printing mobile phone numbers on their cars not to sell them but to secretly arrange races, a City Councillor has claimed.

Fianna Fáil’s Gary Wyse made this disclosure to the Council’s Joint Policing Committee (JPC) on January 24th, and queried whether local Gardaí were aware of such a development.

In reply, Superintendent Chris Delaney said that the vast majority of boy racer get-togethers, which regularly involve young men driving at high speed along the Outer Ring Road, are organised via the internet.
