Bulbulia new chairman of Crisis Pregnancy Agency

Katharine Bulbulia has been appointed chairman of the national Crisis Pregnancy Agency.Appointed by Minister for Health and Children, Mary Harney, she will head up the 9-member board and replaces outgoing chair Olive Braiden. The CPA’s role is focused on all aspects of crisis pregnancy and the development of high-quality services and supports. Having left Fine Gael for the PDs, Ms Bulbulia was programme manager to the former Tánaiste from 1997 to this year and has also served as a member of the Seanad Eireann, Waterford County and City Councils and the South Eastern Health Board. She participated in a family placement scheme for women experiencing crisis pregnancies and was pro-active in the distribution of information in relation to contraception in the southeast.Last March, her husband, Waterford GP Dr Abdul Bulbulia, was appointed to the new Government technical advisory group on HIV/AIDS and other global communicable diseases.
