Celebrating the Year of St. Paul

Waterford Garden Plant Society

Saturday. 20th September 2008 “Glenstal Abbey” Meet at Supervalue (Hypermarket) car park at 8:30 am. A full days outing by coach visiting Glenconnor Garden Centre Clonmel en route to Glenstal Abbey Co. Limerick, where we will enjoy lunch before visiting the 17th century walled garden & extensive parkland etc.

The Monks at Glenstal also run a nice gift shop with books, CD’s & Liqueur chocolates for sale. We will return to the Park Hotel, Poppy Fields, Clonmel for Dinner. Contact Tom O’Brien, 051-873937, for further details. This is the last of the Summer (?) outings.

Our first lecture will be on Wednesday 1st October 2008. Paul Cutler, head gardener at Altamount Gardens, Co. Carlow will give an illustrated talk on “A Walk through Altamount”

Toastmasters

Waterford Toastmasters are up and running for the new term in the Tower Hotel, The Mall, every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month from September to June next.

After a very successful opening night last week, full of passionate and lively debate post All-Ireland Final day, next Monday’s meeting promises to be a fun-filled affair with the Humorous

Speech and Table Topics Contests taking place in the club. All are welcome to come along on the night at 8pm to observe some wit and humorous stories.

The Legion Of Mary

Memorial for Breda Buckley

A Memorial Mass for the late Breda Buckley (nee Mallon) will be offered in the Sacred Hart Church Ferrybank on Wednesday evening 24th September at 7.30p.m.

Ramsgrange Community School Open Night

Camphill Community Open Day

Camphill Community, Ballytobin, Callan, Co.Kilkenny will have their Open Day on Sunday 21st September 2008 with festivities starting at 2pm and running until 5pm. We will have Wheel of fortune, Cake Sale, Plants and Vegetables, Afternoon Teas, Raffles, Games and lots of Children’s Entertainment.

We welcome donations of cakes, vegetables, plants, bric-a-brac etc.

Based Drugs Initiative

First ever National Trails Day

Sunday 28th September 2008 is the first ever National Trails Day to be organised in Ireland and everyone is being encouraged to get out and enjoy the huge range of trails available across the  country.

Ireland has a wealth of trails of many types, from multi-access trails for all users to more challenging trails for the serious hill walker or mountain biker. Bring your family on an exciting adventure and explore the many hidden treasures that Irish trails have to offer.

The events in this area are: A Family and Fun Walk at Mahon Bridge starting at 2pm; a Family Walk at Turraphuca forest near Ballymacarbry starting at 1pm; a walk on forest trails at Colligan wood near Dungarvan at 1.30pm; a Forest Trail And Lake Walk at Lough Mohra near Kilsheelan starting at 1pm and ‘Autumn in the Raven Forest’ near Wexford starting at 3pm.
