Celebrations after €2.8m Lotto win
A young Waterford businessman was celebrating this week after learning that he had won €2.8m as a half share in last Saturday night’s Lotto jackpot of €5.6m. Mark Furlong from Morrisson’s Avenue in the city operates a Nursery and Baby Accessories shop at the Park Road Business Centre and he purchased his €12 ticket at Caulfield’s SuperValue store in the HyperCentre, Morgan street.
Despite his big win, Mark was a cool as a cucumber and said he was definitely keeping his feet on the ground as he celebrated with a few drinks in his local, The Lantern on Upper Yellow Road. However, when the time is right, he will celebrate and share in his good fortune with his partner, Gillian, daughters, Holly (4) and Becky (3), his parents, Patrick and Patricia, his two sisters and two brothers.
Meanwhile, staff and management at Caulfield’s SuperValu are in line for a windfall of their own. The store will receive a Bonus Payment from the National Lottery and Caulfield’s Director, Thomas Caulfield, said they would be delighted to distribute the bonus amongst the staff and management in the store.
Said Thomas Caulfield: “We are delighted to have a winning Lotto ticket sold in our Waterford store and hope that it’s a local customer who takes the €2.8 million. The store bonus will be shared between the 70 management and staff at Caulfield’s in the Hypercentre so it’s good news all around!”
