THE current excellent form of Ipswich Town and the ensuing upsurge of interest in the fortunes of the ‘Tractor Boys” has much to do with the exploits of former Waterford United striker Daryl Murphy.
He has scored 17 goals this season for the club and 23 in total during 2014. Daryl has his own view on why he has become the latest cult
fi gure at Portman Road. “When Mick McCarthy bought me from
Waterford United to play with Sunderland he played me as an
out and out striker and that suited me. That’s where I played for the
Blues but when Mick left the club and I went on to play for
Roy Keane at that club I was moved out wide left.
