Glass workers to meet

An information meeting for Waterford Crystal workers has been arranged for The Forum in Waterford next Monday (4.30) after four weeks of intermittent negotiations chaired by Labour Relations Conciliator Kevin Foley ended late last (Thursday) night in stalemate.

The talks centred on the company’s plans for 492 redundancies and the transfer abroad of the manufacture of certain products.

The UNITE union, which represents most of the workers, claims there is no need for such radical rationalisation and it is fighting for the best possible terms for those who must go.
