Holy Souls Novena
The St. John’s Parish Novena for the Holy Souls will commence on Saturday evening next 3rd November, when the Remembrance Mass for all those who have died during the year will take place at the 6:15pm Vigil Mass. The names of the deceased will be read out and a candle lit in their memory. Invitations to attend this Mass have been sent out to the relatives of the deceased. All are welcome to attend. On Saturday, 10th November, the 6:15pm Vigil Mass will be offered for all those who have been involved in St. John’s in living memory. The Novena will end on Monday, 12th November at the 10:00am Mass.
First Friday
As Friday, 2nd November, is the First Friday of the Month, Fr. McNamara and Ministers of the Eucharist will bring the Blessed Eucharist to the infirm and housebound of the parish. If you would like to have Holy Communion brought to a sick relative or friend on the First Friday or each Sunday morning, please leave your name and contact number into the Sacristy or Presbytery.
Hour of Prayer
An Hour of Prayer in honour of the Sacred Heart will be held on Friday next 2nd November in St. John’s from 11:00am to 12:00noon. All are invited to spend some quite time in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
Sharing Fair Event
The Good Shepherd Sisters will hold their annual “Sharing Fair Event†in St.
John’s Church after all Masses on the weekend of Saturday, 11th and Sunday, 12th
November. This is your chance to pick up some early Christmas presents and at the same time you are helping many families to survive in poor countries.
Padre Pio
Devotions to Padre Pio will take place in the Dominican Church, Bridge Street, on Saturday, 3rd November. Rosary will be said at 10:10am and Mass will be celebrated at 10:30am. Padre Pio’s mitten will be available after Mass.
Special Mass for Vocations
The Little Sisters of the Poor will hold a Mass for the intention of more ‘vocations to the priesthood and religious life’ on Tuesday, 6th November at 7:30pm in their home at Manor Hill. Fr. Tom Rogers will celebrate the Mass and the Holy Family Choir will provide the music. Light refreshments will be served afterwards. All are welcome to attend and please bring a friend.
Fundraising Cabaret
The Little Sisters of the Poor invites you to a ‘Fun Night of Cabaret’ on Monday, 5th November in the Tower Hotel starting at 9:00pm. Music will be by Noel Ryan of the Miami and Big 8 Band and also performing will be Eddie Wymbery, Nicky Cummins and guests. Tickets cost €10 each and there will be plenty of spot prizes to be won on the night. Your support would be appreciated.
Cathedral and St. Patrick’s
The Annual St. Otteran’s Cemetery Mass for the Faithful Departed will take place on Friday, 2nd November at 10:30am.
Remembering the Dead
During the month of November the Church celebrates the memory of the dead in a special way. November begins with two days, which highlight the theme of the month; the Feast of All Saints on the 1st November and the Commemoration of the Faithful Departed (All Souls) on the 2nd November. All Saints is a Holy Day and masses in the Cathedral parish follow the same schedule as the weekend with the Vigil of All Saints on Wednesday at 6:15am, with Mass at 8:00am, 12:00noon and 5:30pm on Thursday.
