Waterford Racing Club reached another landmark over the weekend when our current form man, Robin Kelly topped the Cycling Ireland league table to become the current number one ranked rider in the country.

Robin took third place at the Mick Lally Memorial in Summerhill, Co. Meath on Saturday and followed that up with sixth place at the Cycleways Cup in Navan on Sunday morning to maintain his record of scoring points and prizes in every race this season so far.

Also braving the freezing conditions and snow on Sunday morning from the club were Keith Gater, Paul Smith, Mark Whittle, John MacDonald, Danny Merriman and Emma Walsh who all performed well but finished outside of the prizes.

Meanwhile in Broadford, Co Limerick, Karol Stafford and Eamonn Ryan, who at 60 years of age must surely be the most “experienced” rider in the elite ranks, were in attendance on behalf of the club. Again, both performed well against a strong field but despite fantastic performances on this very hilly circuit, fell just short of the podium.
