Lads, take your phones out of your pockets!

THERE was always a suggestion that it could be so but now a new survey has found that men carrying their mobile phones in their trouser pockets are likely to have lowered their sperm motility by eight per cent and viability by nine per cent.

Because mobiles emit lowlevel electromagnetic radiation, scientists say they can disturb normal cell functions and even sleep.

With male infertility on the rise, researchers at the University of Exeter in England decided to investigate what role cell phones might play in that trend.

They checked out no less than 10 studies, seven of which involved the study of sperm in the laboratory and three that included male patients at fertility clinics.

Overall, among the 1,492 samples, exposure-to-cellphone EMR lowered sperm motility by eight per cent and viability by nine per cent.

Apparently, the electromagnetic fields can cause up to a 2.3°C temperature increase on the skin and could be raising the temperature of the testes enough to suppress and interfere with normal sperm production. Cripes!
