Late Edward (Eddie) Rogers

The death occurred unexpectedly at Cork University Hospital on Friday last of Mr. Edward (Eddie) Rogers, “Elland Lodge”, Ballygibbon, Blarney. The deceased who was an employee of Heineken Ireland, formerly resided at Maypark Lane, Waterford and is survived by his wife Noreen (nee McAuliffe), daughters Joanne and Ann-Marie, mother Josephine, brother Anthony, sisters Catherine and Jean, mother-in-law Nora, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, niece Emma, nephew Robert, relatives and friends.

Removal took place from Jeremiah O’Connor’s Funeral Home, Cork on Sunday to the Church of the Immaculate Conception, Blarney and funeral took place on Monday after Mass to All Saints Cemetery, Garrycloyne.

Recent Baptism

A recent baptism in the parish was that of Tim Phelan. Congratulations to the family.

December 8th Masses

This Saturday, 8th December, being the Feast of the Immaculate Conception – a holy day of obligation – masses in St.Joseph & St.Benildus Church will be at 6.30pm on Friday and 9.30am and 11.15am on Saturday. Masses in St.Mary’s Ballygunner will be at 7.00pm on Friday and 11.00am on Saturday. Then the usual Sunday Masses will being on Saturday evening.

Ardkeen Foodstore Award

Ardkeen Quality Foodstore won a top award at the annual FBD Crest Retail Excellence Awards. It was a great achievement for the firm as there was an entry of 479 stores for the awards. The ceremony took place in Dromoland Castle, Co.Clare, hosted by RTE’s Miriam O’Callaghan.

Gold Pin for Dave

Congratulations to Dave Keohan, a member of the Volkswagen sales team at Tom Murphy Car Sales, Waterford, who was presented with a Gold Pin and Parchment in recognition of his exceptional service to the Volkswagen organisation.

Dave, who resides at Ballinakill Downs was presented with the award at a gala ceremony held in The Heritage at Killenard attended by dealers from across Ireland.

Cards Results

Results of last Saturday evening’s card games in the Parish Centre were as follows:

Joint Winners (19 games) Michael Kearney, Agnes Devins, John Murray tied with Tom Heine, Mary Morrissey and Bernie Mulcaire

2nd (16 games) Mary Smith, Nancy Aspel and Joe Reville tied with Joe Cullinane, Margaret Hogan and John Mulcaire.
