Watercolour and acrylic painter Anna Marie Leavy was born in County Donegal and now lives in County Westmeath, on the shores of Lough Sheever.
Her work is inspired by the Irish landscapes, its floras and faunas. From brightly coloured paintings of hedgerow flowers to woodland and mountain scenes, her paintings have a timeless quality, deeply connected to the soil.
Commenting on her distinctive style, Artist Anna Marie Leavy said: “I always say that an artist’s palette reflects on his or her personality. Painting is my way of communicating my ideas, emotions and my visual experiences. When I take a flower in my hand and hold it – everything else is gone from my mind – it’s my world for that moment”.
Anna Marie is a member of the Water Colour Society of Ireland and has a record of successful exhibitions with the Royal Hibernian Academy as well as solo exhibitions in Kenny’s Gallery Galway, Kilcock Art Gallery and many galleries throughout the country. Her paintings are represented in public and private collections all over the world.
The exhibition continues until May 12th. The Old Market House Gallery on Main Street Dungarvan is open Tuesday to Friday 11am – 1.30pm and 2.30pm to 5pm and on Saturdays from 1pm to 5pm.
