Tom Murphy has recently taken over the leasehold of the Top Oil Service Station in Ferrybank. Tom, who originally comes from St. Mullins in Carlow and has lived in Waterford for the past 25 years, worked in both the bar-catering trade as well as the construction industry until 2010.

Tom had been employed at Top Oil Ferrybank for over 3 years and when the lease came up for renewal in March of this year Top Oil approached Tom to become their licensee at the service station. Tom along with his wife Helen and son Dean took on the opportunity to work together as a family business. Helen and Dean have previously both worked in the forecourt/retail business in the city for a number of years. Helen has a lot of experience in forecourt and retail management and has received a number of forecourt awards over the past number of years.

Tom and Helen have been married for almost 25 years and live in Tramore with their sons Robin and Dean and grandson Jesse. Tom says that the support which they have received from family, friends and the people in the local community and surrounding area has been incredible and they are very grateful.
