Right2Water march: Residents groups rally the troops

Large crowds are expected to merge on the city this Saturday for a protest march organised by anti water charges group Right2Water.
Residents groups across the city have told The Munster Express they’ll be marching from their respective estates en masse to the assembly point at Ballybricken for 2pm, when the protest will make its way along the Quay to The Mall.
Organiser Tommy Hogan, of UNITE, is urging entire families to come along: “In many communities across the country, protests have delayed and halted the installation of water meters. This will be a family day, when we will let our voices be heard. Bring the kids, dressed in their Halloween gear…make noise…frighten the government.”
Right2water is comprised of an alliance of trade unions, community organisations, residents’ and tenants’ associations and Opposition politicians. Speakers at the Waterford demonstration at The Mall will include Independent TD Deputy John Halligan and Sinn Féin’s Senator David Cullinane, as well as Jimmy Kelly, UNITE, and local residents’ representatives.
