Sacred Heart Lourdes Guild

The Sacred Heart Parish Lourdes Guild meet on the first Thursday of the month in the Sacred Heart Parish Centre, The Folly. Anyone interested in joining the Guild are very welcome to attend the meetings.

Music for Mass

Music for the 11:15am Mass in the Sacred Heart Church on Sunday, 5th October, will be provided by the Waterford Peace Choir, and all are welcome to attend.

Many Thanks

Many thanks to all who supported the Sacred Heart Parish Autumn Collection for the support of the priests of the parish. Any outstanding envelopes can be returned to the church this weekend or to the Sacristy.

Kilcohan Guild I.C.A

The next meeting of the Kilcohan Guild I.C.A will take place on Thursday, 2nd October in the Ursuline Convent. New members are always welcome to join the Guild.

Bereavements

Mrs. Josephine Phelan: It is with deep regret we record the sad passing of Mrs. Josephine Phelan “The Croft” Clarinwood, Tramore and formerly of Kennedy Row, St. John’s Park, Waterford, who passed to her eternal reward on Saturday, 20th September. Requiem Mass was celebrated on Wednesday, 24th September, after which, Josephine was laid to rest in St. Otteran’s Cemetery, Ballinaneeshagh. Condolences are extended to Josephine’s family relatives and friends. May she rest in peace. Condolences are also extended to the family, relatives and friends of Mr. Paul Dunphy, Lismore Park, and formerly of Pearse Park. Paul, a member of a well-known and highly respected family in the Sacred Heart Parish passed to his eternal reward on Monday, 22nd September. His removal took place from his residence on Wednesday evening to St. Paul’s Church, Lisduggan. Requiem Mass was celebrated on Thursday, 25th September, after which Paul was laid to rest in St. Otteran’s Cemetery, Ballinaneeshagh. May he rest in peace.

Edmund Rice Centre

The Edmund Rice Brothers at Mount Sion International Community cordially invite you to an evening of ‘Taize Prayer for Autumn’ in the Blessed Edmund Rice Chapel, Barrack Street, on Friday, 3rd October at 8:00pm. Music will be provided by the Waterford Peace Choir. The International Community of Brothers will provide reflections on the theme of autumn for your reflection and prayer. All are invited to attend this quite time together. Afterwards there will be light refreshments provided in the monastery. All are welcome to attend.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society will hold its monthly church gate collection this coming weekend.

Kilcohan Park Greyhound Stadium

The very popular Masters Restaurant in Kilcohan Park Greyhound Stadium re-opened on Friday night last following extensive renovation and upgrading of the facilities available to customers to make it one of the finest greyhound racing and night-time entertainment venues in the south east. Waterford Area Partnership will host a free event, which consists of an information evening giving you details of healthy eating and lifestyle choices, in the Tower Hotel on Thursday, October 2nd, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm. It will also feature information stands, advice on nutrition, dance exercise, line dancing and a health quiz. Tea coffee and healthy snacks will be served.

Fianna Fail T.D. Brendan Kenneally will hold a clinic in Brennan’s The Candy, St. John’s Park, on Friday, 3rd October at 4:30pm. All constituents are welcome to attend.

Ardkeen Library News

The Ardkeen Library Children’s Book Club will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, 16th October from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. The theme for the meeting is “Bring a Book of Your Choice.” The club is suitable for children 9 to 12 years, and new members are always welcome to come along.

Club

A meeting of the newly formed ‘Evening Book Club for Adults’ will take place in the Woodlands Hotel, Dunmore Road, on Tuesday, 14th October at 8:00pm. The book to be discussed at the meeting is “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin. Anyone who would like to join the club or would like further information please come along.

Fundraising Sale

Cuidiu- Irish Childbirth Trust, Waterford Branch, including Bumps and Babes, who hold their weekly meetings in the Ardkeen Community Rooms (beside Supermac’s) will hold a fundraising “Nearly New Sale” of baby and toddler items including nursery equipment, baby clothes, maternity wear, toys and books. The sale will take place in the Woodlands Hotel, Dunmore Road, on Sunday, 12th October from 1:00pm to 3:00pm. So get yourself along and pick up some top quality items at rock bottom prices.

Kids Hockey
Returns

Waterford Hockey Club will resume its Kids Hockey in Newtown School on Sunday, 5th October from 11:00am to 12:00noon. This coaching is suitable for children 7 years and over. Enjoy a team sport and learn the basic skills of hockey, make friends and have fun. All are welcome.

Farronshoneen Youth Project

The Farronshoneen Youth Project, Upper Grange, is holding a craft and jewellery making programme, suitable for 11 to 15 year olds. Using your creative side is very relaxing and is a great way to express yourself. Do you love crafts? Would you like to learn more creative skills including glass painting and jewellery making? Then this craft club is for you. The craft club will take place in the Farronshoneen Youth Project building on Wednesday evenings from 5:30pm to 7:00pm starting on 1st October.
