Shooting at Dominic Place

Much of the Dominic Place area in Waterford city was cordoned off by gardai for several hours yesterday following a shooting incident at a house at approximately 2.30am on Thursday morning.

Two brothers, named locally as Jamie Connolly (30) and Darren Connolly (28), were injured in the incident; one is being treated at Waterford Regional Hospital and the other at University College Hospital Cork. Both are described as being in a stable condition after reportedly undergoing surgery yesterday morning.

Two men, one in his 30s and the other in his 20s, were later arrested – the older one at the scene, the second close to Ardkeen hospital – and were still being questioned at Waterford Garda Station about the situation this morning.

The Gardai are seeking any information in confidence to 051-305300.
