Special Halloween festivities for city
The Waterford City Centre Retailers Association (WCCRA) has planned a number of activities over the Halloween weekend.
The group has joined forces with Waterford Chamber and the City Council to create a family fun-filled programme, including a hunt for masks being hidden in Bewitched Shop Windows throughout the city. Each day a different mask will be in a different window – basically find it and win a prize.
On Saturday there’s a Fancy Dress parade, starting with a storyteller bewitching the children with enchanting tales in the ruins of the Ghostly Blackfriars. The Pied Piper will also entice the kids on a merry dance in John Roberts Square.
Mayor John Halligan will be selecting the spookiest children with the overall winner getting a large toy hamper kindly sponsored by Hasbro.
A scintillating finale is planned to what WCCRA chairperson Breda Cummins hopes this will become an annual event.
All children are welcome, but parents are asked to accompany them.
So beware – Waterford City’s Halloween celebrations start in Blackfriars on Saturday at 3pm!
