Late Fr. Donie O’Brien
The death occurred on February 6th last at Waterford Regional Hospital of Rev. Donie O’Brien, Hillside Park and late of the diocese of Hexam and Newcastle.
A native of Mullinavat, he is survived by his brother Martin, sisters Maureen, Carmel and Eithne, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, clergy and friends.
Removal took place from the hospital to St. Beacon’s Church, Mullinavat and burial took place in the adjoining cemetery.
Ordained in 1954 in St. Mary’s Church Kilkenny, he ministered in England, before retiring in 1999 to Ireland where he resided with his sister Maureen in Hillside Park, Dunmore road. At the obsequies Dean Barron PP Mullinavat concelebrated the mass and also in attendance were the Bishops of Ossory Dr. Forristal and Dr. Michael Russell, retired Bishop of Waterford & Lismore.
Waterpark Win
Waterpark won their third game of the season last Saturday when they defeated Banbridge at Ballinakill. The final score was Waterpark 16 (K. Dingley try, Gary Jones 3 pens., con.) Banbridge 14. Park are now fourth from bottom in the league table.

Contract Bridge Success
Congratulations to Liam McKay, a resident of Viewmount and his partner John Whelan, who won the Revington Cup 2007 National Men’s Pairs Championship in contract bridge in Dublin recently. This was a great victory for both men and it was the first time that the National Men’s Pairs have been won by a Waterford partnership since the competition was inaugurated back in 1936.

With Ash Wednesday next Wednesday 21st February the times for masses for Lent in St.Joseph & St.Benildus Church will be as follows: 7.30am., 10.30am., and evening mass at 6.30pm.
