Subsidence leads to quay closure

The outer quay at Cheekpoint in Waterford Harbour Estuary has been closed by Waterford County Council following the discovery of serious subsidence.

The pier opposite Great Island Power Station is used by fishermen and river pilots and appears to have been undermined by the River Suir, leaving it in need of immediate underwater repairs.
