The Information and Support Unit for New Communities has recently completed an English Language Strategy for Waterford City and County. This long awaited Strategy was officially launched by the Minister for Integration, Conor Lenihan last Thursday 30th October 2008 in the Edmund Rice International Heritage Centre, Mount Sion, Barrack Street.
The English Language Strategy highlights the need for additional English Language supports for adult and Young Foreign Nationals (Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Working Migrants) living in Waterford City and County. This is an initiative by the Information and Support Unit for New Communities which has been assisted by a number of schools, agencies and representatives from New Communities who were involved in the consultation process to highlight the need for an integrated approach to English Language supports in Waterford.
