We have a system here in Lancashire, we have 2 big bins, a green and a grey, plus 3 thick blue plastic bags and a large blue plastic box , The green bin for garden rubbish...ie cuttings, grass, leaves twigs, is collected outside the gate/door with the plastic box which contains tins, plastic bottles,one week, then the following week the grey bin which contains household rubbish, ie scraps of food, the usual house rubbish,and the blue plastis bags with newspapers etc is collected then. It was quite confusing at first, even with the booklet the council gave us!! It seems to work perfectly well now. Animals can't rummage into the large bins & they are not bothered with newspapers etc. The large bins etc are kept at the back of the house/ garden. no mess endured. I can imagine how having all plastis bags must attract allsorts of animals..They can smell an old bone from a mile away!!! Vera x Do you not use bins now ??
