Tramore man ‘s book receives national reviews
Tramore author Philip O’Ceallaigh, has publicised another book called the Pleasant Light of Day through Penquin Books and was recently reviewed in the Irish Times book section last Saturday.
He writes about a range of stories on metaphysical themes, one relates to the moon landings of 1969, another is about Galway and Aran Islands.
He uses rich poetic words and phrases. The Irish Times see him as an emerging young Irish talent with a very individual approach.
Philip has travelled extensively in Eastern Europe and his knowledge of these far flung locations aids him in his writing.
His first work had the very unusual title of Notes from a Turkish Whorehouse, which despite the title got excellent reviews and featured even on the RTE Book at one.
Philip is seen to approach subjects from an international perspective as well as an Irish one so his writing may have wider appeal outside Ireland.
Well done to Philip for his success.
He was interviewed on the RTE Arts Show on Wednesday night last, where he spoke about the many countries that he lived in, mainly in Eastern Europe, currently he resides in Bucharest.
He also spent some time in Cairo and his experience of this side of the world prepares him well for his novels.
He spoke about his incredible time in Cairo, a busy and hectic city. He has already won a number of book awards for his writing.
Well known in literary circles, he perhaps could hold a book reading in Tramore of Waterford in the near future, given his success.
Just to remind readers the book is published by Penquin and is priced at 12.99 sterling.
