A takeaway in Tramore was one of 16 eateries around the country served with enforcement orders by the Food Safety Authority (FSAI) last month.
Star Kebab & Pizza House, on Strand Street, was issued with a closure order on 23rd October last by environmental health officers in the HSE on breaches of food safety legislation under the FSAI Act, 1998. The order was lifted the following day, following inspection.
A closure order is served where it is deemed that there is or there is likely to be a grave and immediate danger to public health at or in the premises, or where an improvement order is not complied with.
“While most food businesses follow high standards and are compliant with food safety legislation, we continue to encounter cases where consumers’ health is jeopardised through a failure to comply with food safety and hygiene requirements,” said HSAI Chief Executive, Professor Alan Reilly.
“These breaches are completely avoidable when food businesses have proper food safety management systems in place.”
