Wants to meet Minister about university

Waterford City Council is to ask newly appointed Education Minister Batt O’Keeffe to meet a delegation to discuss the issue of a university for the south east.

Cllr. Tom Cunningham raised the matter at Monday night’s Council meeting and fears were voiced that the Ministerial change would facilitate further delays in coming to a decision at government level.

Cllr. David Cullinane said it was important to get the meeting before the summer recess and Cllr. Jack Walsh stressed the importance of all groups involved in the campaign maintaining the pressure.

Cllr. Cunningham wanted the new Minister to know that the fight would continue until successful. “We’re not going away on this one”, he promised.
