Waterford ITF excel in Rome

World Taekwon-Do Championships
The World Taekwon-Do Championships took place in Rome from Wednesday 23rd July-27th July. Four members of the 21 person team were from the Waterford ITF Taekwon-Do Centre, Ballinakill which is run by Neil Franks, 7th Degree Master.
They competed in the following events, Zara Caulfield-O’Dwyer (Sparring, Patters and Special Techniques) Christine Franks, (Sparring and Patterns) brothers Felipe and Diego Garduno, Felipe (Sparring, Patterns and Special Techniques)
They returned to Waterford with a medal haul of four gold, three silver and three bronze medals.
Zara Caulfield-O’Dwyer won silver in Patterns and bronze in Sparring, Christine Franks won gold medals in both sparring and patterns, Diego Garduno won gold medalsin both Sparring and Patterns and Felipe Garduno won two silver medals in Sparring and Patterns and two bronze medals for Team Sparring and Team Patterns. It was a fantastic result for both the Waterford ITF members and also Team Ireland who won 28 medals in total.
