Late Anthony King
The friends were legion who learned with a deep sense of grief of the demise of Anthony King, Moonvoy, Tramore.
A deservedly popular member of a highly esteemed local family, Anthony became a most successful building contractor, through long years of hard work. He was respected by customers and workers alike. Many tributes have been paid to his memory but the finest was provided mutely at the removal to Holy Cross Church. The grief and heartfelt sympathy was evident in this huge concourse, with the construction industry to the fore in this fitting tribute.
Assisted at the Requiem Mass by Fr.Comerford from Slieverue, friend of the family, Monsignor John Shine in his homily said that Anthony got his call early and gave witness to people at their best. Displaying humour, nature, serenity, tranquillity, acceptance, strength, which all of us need. Anthony’s final years were ones of witness more so than our days of accomplishments and achievements. We are at our best when our backs are to the wall. All will remember Anthony in their different ways, have stories about him, especially his family as he gains his eternal reward, with the assurance outlined in the entrance hymn that morning, “Come follow me and I will give you rest.”
His family paid one final special tribute prior to the burial in St.Patrick’s Cemetery:
“A special man like Anthony is hard to find,
For that we know is true,
You gave to us unselfishly every single part of you.
You gorgeous man, your sparkling eyes, the way you made us laugh,
We know you are so peaceful as you travel Heaven’s path.
Your memory is our inner strength
To last our whole life through,
God threw away the mould Anthony,
The day that He made you.
Our Anthony is truly invaluable, indispensable and unforgettable,
We wouldn’t want anyone but you,
And that is why we are so grateful
That life picked Anthony for us.
So, whenever we are lonely
And need your loving hand,
We know that you will guide us
In life to understand.
That each day you walk beside us,
We’ll never be alone,
The only thing that’s changed now, Anthony,
Is that you’re not at home.”
Sincere sympathy in their sad loss is extended to his bereaved wife Chrissie (nee Kiely), daughters Carmel and Susanne, brothers, sisters, sons-in-law, grandchildren, extended family, relatives and friends.

I was very sorry to read the sad news of Anthony’s passing. I was an old school friend – and while we would not have met for many, many years I remember vividly, even at a young age, Anthony being a strong and upright individual. Obviously he carried these traits throughout his life.
