At 92, iconic singer Tony Bennett is still setting records. Recently, he was awarded a Guinness World Record for the longest time between the release of an original recording and a re-recording of the same single by the same artist. The song is ‘Fascinating Rhythm’ written by George and Ira Gershwin in 1924. It has been covered by music greats like Fred Astaire, Ella Fitzgerald and The Carpenters over the years and Bennett originally recorded the song in 1949.

This year, he included ‘Fascinating Rhythm’ on his new album ‘Love Is Here to Stay’, a collaborative project with jazz singer Diana Krall.
This writer has always been a big fan of Tony Bennett and saw him a few years ago at Vicar Street in Dublin where he did not disappoint. The singer is also a wonderful artist and painter but, unfortunately for me, his work is way out of my financial league.
